Old Western Movies – Favorites of Many Viewers

There are many old western movies that are favorites of many viewers. These are the genre of movies that has withstood the test of time and probably will surely continue to do so. Although, many of these types of films were usually filmed on a sound stage or a studio set, they were also films or movies that utilize some of the most beautiful locations while telling a story about the western way of life. Almost all of these types of movies envelope a gunfighter and a saloon considering that these were considered to be a way of life in the wild west. There are many movies that have taken one this concept and they are now considered to be almost classic. Lets take a look at some of the old western movies and discuss or explore a little bit about them.

It was the early types that would depict Indians as the bad guys and therefore, create the stereotypical cowboys and Indians battles. However, as time progressed, this changed into the gunfighter type of movie and would then depict a bad gunfighter against a good gunfighter while basically chasing gold. Then there were the films that would completely depict the bad guys taking over a town. This seemed to be the most well known storyline and it has still been used to this day.

“The Magnificent Seven” is one of those types of films. It depicts a group of gunfighters as the good guys that are protecting the townsfolk from the bad guys. It is also considered to be one of the best western type of movies there every was. It was made in nineteen sixty and starred Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen.

“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” is another older and well known western flick. This one stars Clint Eastwood and was made in nineteen sixty six by Italian film director Sergio Leone. It was to become the start of Clint Eastwood’ long and illustrious career. He also continued to work with this director and went on to make “For a Few Dollars More” as well as “A Fist Full of Dollars.” These are now very popular western movies that many are familiar with.

This western rage has continued into recent days with movies such as “Young Guns,” which would utilize Hollywood’s “brat pack” to tell the story of Billy the Kid, and “Unforgiven,” which told the story of an aging old gunfighter that would become mean when he drank whiskey. Both of these movies went on to become enormous successes.

Some Great Places in North Western Australia

There are quite a few hidden gems found north of Perth. The farmstead at Wagoe is something that very few people know about, but it is one of the best places you can ever stay for fishing and snorkeling. Lucky Bay is just south of Wagoe, and as long as you are well set up for camping you will have a ball. Both of these places are about a 5.5 hour drive north of Perth, but they are well worth the drive.

I would suggest that you need a four wheel drive for both locations (especially Lucky bay). Wagoe you can get to the farmstead without one, but you would have to walk down to the beach every time that you wanted to go, which would become a real issue. By car, it’s only a 3 minute drive, which is great as you can roll out of bed, throw the fishing gear in the car and roll down the hill. The beach there has masses of reef, and you can catch some huge fish. Every time we go there we have an absolute blast. The accommodation at Wagoe is much cheaper than in kalbarri, although it is not exactly luxury!

If you prefer something even cheaper you could consider lucky bay. This has a brilliant reef which runs about 100 meters parallel to the beach, about 50 meters out. The reef stops all of the bad weather, and snorkeling on the inside of the reef is always pretty decent. On a calm day though, you can head out the back and see some huge fish!

In conclusion, Western Digital 500GB hard drives almost got it right but then went too far in a case of trying to please all of its consumers all of the time by providing all smartware software as standard. They will be better served in the future by following a different motto: less is more.

When you are looking for a family vacation destination, it is necessary to consider the children. A family vacation is not going to be enjoyable unless it is enjoyable for them as well. The perfect spot would have activities that appeal to all ages. There are many places that would fit this bill, but there is nothing better to keep children happy on vacation than water. The beach is a place for all ages. The little ones can play in the sand and the teenagers can seek romance while the parents soak up the sun and sip those little drinks with umbrellas. Here is my short list for the top family vacations spots, and they all have plenty of beaches available.

The top of the list has to be Florida. It is not far away and fairly easy to reach from the East coast of the United States. It has beaches up and down both sides of the state. The Orlando area has some of the top children’s attractions anywhere in the world with Disney World, The Epcot Center and Universal Studios. There are an endless number of things to do and places to go in Florida, and they speak English and use American money. There is really no downside to it. The weather is almost always going to be nice, and although you can find luxury enough to suit the most extravagant taste, you can also find economy as well.

If you are thinking of leaving the country, Jamaica is the second choice. Jamaica is considered to be the most beautiful of all the Caribbean Islands. It is all very family oriented. Most of the major resorts there are very children friendly. Supervised children’s activities and kid’s meals are very common. Family discounts are available in many places as well. Jamaica is an island, so there are plenty of beaches here also. A few of the resorts on Jamaica even offer a “vacation nanny”, so that you can get a little time also.

To add a little balance to the list, we need a west coast resort area. Many people would suggest Hawaii as the ideal place for a family vacation, and that is hard to argue with. Hawaii is also an island, and there is certainly plenty to do there. The only problem with Hawaii is that it is quite a distance away, and getting there is often a bit expensive. My choice would be Cabo San Lucas located at the very southern tip of Baja California. This resort area sits where the Bay of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet and it is a little bit of paradise that is within easy reach of the western states of the United States. Cabo San Lucas vacation rentals can be found to meet any taste and budget. Many celebrities including Hollywood stars maintain Cabo San Lucas condominiums for their get away vacations, but you do not have to be rich or famous to enjoy this pristine and unspoiled resort area.

Dubbo and the Western Plains Zoo

Dubbo is a thriving outback city known for its extraordinary zoo featuring everyones favourite animals from Africa, Australia, Asia, North America and many other locations.It is a fantastic base to visit many of the other towns in the central west tablelands and is ideal as a destination or stopover for your road trip. You will find Dubbo almost smack bang in the heart of New South Wales, just off the Mitchell Highway.

Over the years, the tourist industry has been growing rapidly as word spreads about all this city has to offer.Dubbo lies right next to the Macquarie River, one of the main inland rivers in New South Wales.There is a great walk along this river which also takes you through the Dubbo parklands, or you can find your own fishing spot and just enjoy the peace of the outback. Along the banks you also will find the Dundullimal Homestead.Dont be put off by the name.It is the oldest timber slab house in Australia (which is still standing!).

There are plenty of camping spots to choose from in this region which are central to most of the Dubbo attractions, shops and restaurants. If it’s time for some luxury, The Pericoe Retreat is a five star bed and breakfast in the heart of town, or there are a number of farm stay properties that will give you space and comfort.

Within the city, you can take a Heritage Walk which will give you a closer look at the historic buildings with are found throughout Dubbo such as the Courthouse, some of the older churches and the Dubbo Military Museum. You cant miss the Old Dubbo Gaol which uses holograms to bring you a fascinating account of the history of the prison system in the 1800s.

The Western Plains Zoo is why many tourists visit Dubbo. There are over 800 different animals throughout the 300 hectare zoo.It is almost a relief to visit a zoo where native animals have been given enough space to feel as though they are free. To circumnavigate the 6km track to see all the animals, you have the option of walking (which will take a while), hiring a mini-moke, driving your vehicle or cycling, which is a popular option.

So, what animals will you find here in the open range? There are the African favourites such as zebras, giraffes, elephants, hippos, lions and cheetahs. Then you have the endangered species such as the white rhinoceros, Galapagos turtle and the Bengal tiger. What about the ring tailed lemurs, made famous by Madagascar, and the antelopes and echidnas? The whole family will be fascinated to see and sometimes pat wildlife they normally would never get to see in a lifetime.It is a great zoo not just for the animals also the conservation taking place.

There is something about visiting an outback city that you cant put into words.At night you can see a billion stars lining the sky, and one place you can do this well is at the Dubbo Observatory. The whole family will love the slide show of the universe and the giant telescope to see the galaxy at its best.

Getting to know the locals and browsing through the shops is also an enjoyable experience, and you will be sure to discover travel tips from those who know the city best. You dont have to stick to the city centre, further out is the beautiful Macquarie Valley which is known for its wine making and natural attractions such as Wellington Caves.There are also a number of surrounding cities that are worth a visit, such as Orange, Bathurst, Gilgandra, Parkes and Forbes.

Your visit to Dubbo, its zoo and the surrounding districts will never be forgotten. It is the perfect place to unwind and be captivated at the same time by the beauty and wonder of the attractions and scenery.

There are plenty of lamps and lighting fixtures to choose from, including ones made from antlers or small logs or ones with depictions of western scenes that add interest and visual appeal to the western style of home decorating.

Decorative pillows with a bold design and/or a splash of color might be just right for adding a bit of panache to the room. Bright colors or a bold design on a sofa could overpower the room, but pillows and a few other accessories and accents can give you lots of flexibility to get the overall look and feel you want. You can set the mood of the room to be as wild or as mild as you want.

Some items, such as sofa pillows, floor pillows, or table centerpieces, are usually affordable enough that it might be fun to have one set for everyday use and another set that can be put in place in a matter of minutes when certain guests are expected. That way, you can enhance the “wow” factor to fit the occasion.

Small bronze sculptures or horse figurines are a good example of decorations that you can display on a table, in a curio cabinet, or on a knick-knack shelf. One of my favorite things to display is a baseball-sized geode, which is a certain type of rock that has been cut in half to reveal the crystal formations inside.

Wall art includes paintings, drawings, photographs, and more. No matter how a room is decorated, too much bare wall space can often make a room seem unfinished. Plus, items on the wall can reflect your hobbies or personal interests as well as being decorative. Some of the rugs that have a southwestern design or a depiction of a scenic vista or animals are great for hanging on a wall, like a tapestry. It may sound a little unusual, but even things like samples of barbed wire or different kinds of horseshoes can be mounted and framed to make something that really goes well in a western style room.

Whether you prefer the traditional ranch style of western furnishings or the western style with a contemporary influence for your western home decorating, you can be assured that you’ll have plenty of accessories and accents to select from that offer down-home appeal and casual charm.

Budget Travel in the Western Cape South Africa

There are very few places in the country that can boast such a diversity of natural places of beauty as the Western Cape. The Garden Route follows the coastline of the Indian Ocean on the Eastern Cape Coast, between a belt of mountain ranges, the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains inland. The Garden Route enjoys one of the mildest and most equable climates, with unspoiled golden beaches, beautiful lagoons and estuaries and boasts in excess of 250 species of birds.

The West Coast

The West Coast offers some of the greatest of small town experiences in South Africa. This is a region that needs to be savored, slowly, and therefore road trips along the West Coast are a firm favorite with locals and international visitors. Not only does the area offer some of the most beautiful scenery in the world mountains, oceans and views that go on forever, this coast is also a haven for the finest South African hospitality.

The West Coast has two official wine routes, the Swartland Wine Route and the Olifants River Wine Region. West Coast seas also produce a bounty of quality seafood and line fish to accompany the fruit of the vine and some of the countrys finest restaurants are found along this coastline.

The Winelands

Just a 45-minute drive from Cape Town and youre in the mountains and valleys of the Winelands all gracious gabled Cape Dutch homesteads, cask-lined cellars, oak-treed towns and ultra fine restaurants. The towns of Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl are delightful and beg to be explored and savored very slowly, like good wine.

The Garden Route

This land of lakes, bays, mountains and forests languishes on the southern coast from Heidelberg to the Eastern Cape’s Tsitsikamma Forest and Storms River. Its a nook of the country that offers inspiration to writers and artists whose presence gives the Garden Route a trendy flavour. It is also a top priority of many a foreign visitor.

This coastal drive links a series of charming towns interspersed with natural wonder. Along the way, every kind of adventure activity is possible scuba diving, abseiling, fishing and more.

The Klein Karoo

One of the most geologically interesting parts of South Africa is the Klein Karoo, with its towering mountains and sheer gorges. A notable geological feature is the Cango Caves, a series of caverns and chambers naturally hewn out of limestone, outside of the city of Oudtshoorn. These caves are among the top ten most visited South African attractions.

Oudtshoorn itself, the heart of the ostrich feather industry when it was at its zenith in the late 1800′s early 1900′s, is worth a visit. The grandiose, old feather palaces are still to be seen, while ostrich farms, now involved in the commercial production of meat, leather, eggs and feathers, can be toured, with the possibility of riding an ostrich. The town also hosts an annual music and theatre fest the Klein Karoo Kunstefees.

The Central Karoo

The semi-arid Karoo derives its name from an indigenous word meaning [thirstland], but the starkness this implies is deceptive. Dig a little below the surface and you find fossil-rich terrain, fascinating rock art, ancient stone-age sites, one of the largest varieties of succulents on the planet and star-filled skies to thrill the astronomer, no matter how amateur.

Peaceful Prince Albert at the foot of the spectacular Swartberg Pass makes a convenient base from which to venture out and explore. Its close to Gamkaskloof or Die Hel (The Hell), once home to an isolated farming community that for a century was accessible only by foot or horseback. The Karoo National Park, as the largest ecosystem in South Africa, reveals how fauna and flora have adapted to their harsh environment.

The Breede River Valley

Theres Ceres, aptly named for the Roman goddess of fertility; Tulbagh with 32 historical buildings making for the largest concentration of national monuments in the country; Montagu, home of hot mineral springs famed for curative powers; Worcester and Robertson – known for their noble vintages.

The Overberg

An hour east of Cape town ‘over the mountains’ is the Overberg, marked by a coastline of holiday-friendly beaches, picturesque seaside towns, an ancient lighthouse that has witnessed many a shipwreck (at Cape Agulhus) and a whale route that draws more whales and more watchers each year. Between June and November crowds flock to Hermanus and its surrounds to watch the great mammals court and cavort.

Inland, over the Outeniqua Mountains you will find the Klein Karoo with Oudtshoorn, which is the capital of ostrich land, and is the heart of Ostrich farming worldwide. Undoubtedly the most popular attraction of the area is the subterranean wonderland of the Cango Caves. The caves with its own museum form the tourist hub of the Klein Karoo and are a must to visit.
